Audre's Den invites you to Gather, an afternoon rooted in the things that sustain us: food, story, and the people we share them with.
From 4 to 6, we open the market. Local food and beverage vendors, land stewards, food justice advocates, and restaurateurs come together to honor the relationship between what we eat, where it comes from, and who grows it. Artists of all kinds, visual, musical, spoken word, and beyond, are welcome to share their artistry as we move through the space. Browse, taste, create, connect, and bring a recipe to swap. The stories we carry in our kitchens are worth preserving too.
At 6, we gather. The market flows into a community conversation and author talk with Dr. Ashanté Reese, scholar and author of Gather, facilitated by Christina Galloway of Christina Sows & Grows, LLC. Joined by local farmers, chefs, land stewards, and food justice voices, Dr. Reese leads us into a conversation about what it means to feed one another, to build community across difference, and to understand that food is never just food. It is culture, it is care, it is resistance.
Gather is where we slow down together with books, stories, and conversation that center Black women's and queer voices. By sharing space with Audre's Den, you help remove barriers between our community and the books that can heal us. Your presence supports literacy, wellness, and collective care for youth and adults across South Carolina.
Sign up so we can welcome you with intention and keep you connected to future readings, circles, and workshops.
